Imperial War, Muse
About 15 people from Bolton Quaker Peace Group and Manchester Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and in support of CAAT, plus a similar number of police & security guards
- gathered outside the main gate to the Imperial War Museum for an hour
on 6 March for a good humoured protest against the Chair of BAE Systems
addressing a regional businessmen's dinner (North West in Europe). The protesters were not allowed to speak to drivers and passengers of cars arriving, but they did have a good
display of placards on show and managed to leaflet a fair number of
people walking in or being dropped off outside by taxi.
GMR and the MEN
did interviews with CAAT, although they have yet to hear if this
material has been used. There were people from Burnage, Chorlton, Whalley
Range, Stretford, Stockport, Bolton and the University despite the
protest being called at short notice, and Manchester CAAT felt they had been quite
effective in getting their message across.
