Success as Southport Zoo Shuts Shop

Southport Zoo, described by animal rights groups as the UK's worst zoo, is set to close following years' of dedicated campaigning. The local council has failed to renew the zoo's lease and the neighbouring fun fare, Pleasureland, has put in a planning application for the zoo's land in order to expand their operation. The owners of the zoo, the Petries, claim they are "none the wiser" and "sitting in limbo". Shame...
