Voices from Up North

"Northern Voices" is the new vehicle of northern Anarchism. Seeking to find freshness and variety in our local northern communities at street-corner-level, it does not look for easy generalisations and slick solutions.

In this way we aim to engage local people dealing with their everyday affairs, rather than the stuff of headline writers and party politicians.

Thus, issue 2 challenges our society at its roots by handling commonplace worries: complacent Councils in Burnley and Bradford that cause racism through decades of neglect; greedy companies that try to grab green belt land in Swinton and councils that let them get away with it; cheap labour and stuffed electricians - sacked for fighting for their rights on Manchester's "One Piccadilly Gardens" - another white elephant?; Manchester's decadent food at Selfridges and Bury Black Pudding Market; how a murderer and his hangman sang a duet together; how "anarchist" Professor Noam Chomsky kills his critics; all this and "a farts' progress and the problem of other arses" in the latest issue of Northern Voices!
