Marco Camenish, Hornlistr. 55, 8330 Pfaffikon, Switzerland. In the 1970s & 80s Marco carried out a number of anti-nuclear bombing, in Switzerland, for which he was sentenced to ten years imprisonment. After two years imprisonment he escaped from custody with a number of other prisoners and was on the run for ten years. Whilst on the run Marco carried out a number of other eco-bombings. However his luck ran out and he was eventually discovered in Massa in Italy and after a shoot out with the police he was re-arrested. After serving a twelve year prison sentence for eco-bombings in Italy, Marco was finally extradited back to Switzerland where he is to finish the remainder of his ten year prison sentence. Plus he is to face trial on additional charges relating to his prison breakout.

taking part in a peaceful anti capitalist protest there. He is
currently on hunger strike in support of another anti-capitalist

- Kuldip Bajwa - arrested while demonstrating outside the Labour Party conference in Bournemouth due to his likeness to someone caught on video hitting a police riot shield with a placard pole at June 18. Judge Barthurst Norman said too much leniency had previously been shown to J18 reprobates and sentenced Kuldip to a full 21 months for violent disorder. MOVE is an eco-revolutionary group whos members have been persecuted by the Philadelphia police throughout their existence. This harassment culminated in the police firebombing their commune in 1985. There are currently eight MOVE activists in prison. These eight are each serving 100 years imprisonment having been framed for the murder of a cop in 1979. A ninth defendant, Merle Africa, died in prison in 1998.

Helen Woodson is serving a 27 year sentence after she walked into a bank with a fake gun and demanded money. While still in the bank she set fire to the money reading out a statement denouncing corporate greed and the destruction of the environment. She is also serving time for mailing warning letters containing .38 caliber bullets to 6 corporate officials and disarming a nuclear missile silo with a jack hammer. Her expected release date is 2005. In general she prefers no publicity.

Anti Iraq War

On Tuesday 12 March, Trident Ploughshares activist, Ulla Roder, gained access to RAF Leuchars in Fife, Scotland, where she took a hammer to a Tornado aircraft. Ulla told her supporters "I took my hammer to the nose-cone, the cockpit, the fuselage, the wings, the tailplane and other parts of the plane which it was safe to damage. I don't see it flying again". Being a Ploughshares activist, this was an "accountable" direct action and Ulla handed herself over to the authorities where she is now held on remand. (Nov 2002) A couple of years ago four American nuns calling themselves "Sacred
Earth & Space Plowshares" disarmed weapons of mass murder at Peterson
Air Force Base in the USA. On Sunday 6 October 2002, three of the
original four Sisters visited an N-8 missile silo in northern Colorado
and using the name "Sacred Earth & Space Plowshares II" disarmed the
equipment that transports nuclear missiles to their firing points. All

- Wayne Heaton, an anti-fascist activist, has been sentenced to 18 months (July 2002) for violent disorder during the Burnley riots last summer. Wayne, who grew up in Burnley, was none too happy seeing the growth of support for the BNP in his home town. So when the police defended the BNP, Wayne like many locals stood up and fought. - Harold H. Thomson, long-term US anarchist prisoner, is challenging a decision that will decide whether inmates across the States are able to receive mail containing "political content". - Leonard Peltier was framed for the murder of two FBI agents and is now serving two consecutive life sentences in prison. As an 'American Indian Movement'(AIM) activist he was targeted as a 'subversive' by the secret USA Cointelpro operations. Despite substantial new evidence and huge public pressure he has been consitently refused a retrial. Leonard is now very ill, unable to move his jaw and in great danger of blood poisoning, but is being refused decent medical help.

- Linn (Lenny) Chavez: a 36 year old AIM activist and Kiowa man, Lenny was cutting wood at his home when he was attacked by a right wing Aryan group member. The man grabbed Lenny's chainsaw threatening him and all those in the property. Fearing for his and his family's life Lenny drew his penknife and inflicted non-lethal injuries to the attaker. While the other man went free, Lenny was charged with atempted murder.

Control Unit, where political prisoners are isolated by the authorities in their attempt at stopping the spread of radical ideas.

is a longtime community organizer and human rights activist serving a 50-year sentence in Texas for
disarming a police officer who drew his weapon on him (in a small Texas region notorious for numerous
killings of Latinos). Alvaro was a national organizer for the freedom campaign of Ricardo Adalpe Guerra,
a Mexican national falsely sentenced to die for the murder of a cop. Ricardo was freed in 1994. Alvaro

Former Black Panther imprisoned in 1969 with 13 others (Panther 21 case), for 2 years without bail,
until acquitted in 1971. Upon release, forced underground and joined Black Liberation Army due to
police harassment. Sundiata was sentenced to life, plus 30 years for murder in 1973 after a police
ambush, at which a comrade and a cop were killed. One of the longest serving political prisoners in the
world, he has developed tuberculosis. Sundiata spent 8 years in the notorious Marion Control Unit until
campaigners forced the authorities to transfer him.

the screws and officials hate him. He called it off when it became life threatening, and now has kidney
problems. John has written an account of his struggles called 'Down to the Wire'.

currently reaching epidemic proportions in the Texas prison system.
